CP Foods and C.P. Vietnam win 7 global TPM awards from Japan

Charoen Pokphand Foods PLC (CP Foods) and C.P. Vietnam Co., Ltd. were presented 7 Total Productive Maintenance: TPM 2018 Awards, in recognition of their achievement in plant maintenance and preventive approaches which lead to greater productivity and lower cost for the benefits of society, the environment and community.
Mr. Rewat Hathaisttayapong, CP Foods’ Chief Operation Officer Feed Business, said that the Company’s 4 feed mills namely Bangna Km.21, Phitsanulok, Nongkae and Pakthongchai passed the assessment of Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JPIM) in 5 aspects: 1) Plant management through the deployment of policy that encompasses a clear vision, KPI and goals 2) System focusing on its credibility, reasonability and practicality under TPM guideline 3) Human resource whereby the analyzing and improvement (Kaizen) skills and capacity of staff at all levels particularly machine operators were evaluated to reduce in-process losses 4) Result which entails the assessment of the system, human resources’ capability, the reasonability of KPI, objectives and outcome and 5) Engagement that gauges the participation of employees at all levels and all units in tackling obstacles and reducing waste.
“The assessment process not only helps reduce waste and enhance our plants’ manufacturing efficiency as well as competitiveness; but also reflects our responsibility to society, the environment and community. For instance, a cut in production waste will consequently reduce pollution within a community and impacts on the environment,” Mr. Rewat said.
Meanwhile, Saraburi Feed Mill and two feed mills in Veitnam were bestowed Award for TPM Excellence in Category A for the first time, under CP Foods’ policy to have its business units in Thailand and overseas continually improve their competitiveness.

“All parties took part in completing TPM guidelines and objectives, from high-level executives to officers at all levels and all departments. This reflected continuous improvement among our staff at all levels, to reach our 3 Zero goals – Zero Accident, Zero Defect and Zero Breakdown. The process ensures high operational efficiency, safety and customer satisfaction,” Mr. ชำนาญ said.
During 2015-2016, CP Foods’ feed mills won a total of 11 Award for TPM Excellence, Category A. JIPM will host the 2018 TPM Award presentation ceremony on 21 March 2019 at Kyoto International Conference Center, Japan.
